Panorama Ridge is one of the most iconic viewpoints in Garibaldi Provincial Park, with sweeping views over the bright turquoise waters of Garibaldi Lake. From the ridge you can also see the striking volcanic peak of Mount Garibaldi, known to the Squamish Nation as Nch’ḵay̓ - which translates to “dirty water” or “grimy one,” referencing the volcanic dust that drifts into the Cheekeye River.
After a long hike through forests, wildflower meadows, and alpine terrain, reaching the ridge feels so good- despite the many visitors and busy trail, to this day it remains one of my favourite hikes.
Garibaldi Provincial Park is located within the traditional territories of the Squamish (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh), Lil'wat (Lil̓wat7úl), and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
A note from the artist:
“In my illustrations, I focus on the magic of nature and the special memories tied to local mountains and landscapes. Each piece aims to capture the beauty and emotional significance of these places, using collaged paint strokes and vibrant colors. I want viewers to feel a connection to the land and remember their own special moments in nature.”
